The year 1929. A “shock worker” from a tractor plant visits a film studio premises and is furious to see fake stage designs for a kitsch production about a Soviet life. He refuses to help the crew with his tractor, but is happy to ask one of the cameramen to go with him to visit an actual Soviet village. There they witness the birth of the kolkhoz and the dekulakization of wealthy villagers. Then they are transported to the future, to the year 1932, when the first five-year plan is done and the commune-sovkhoz is established. Movies can move faster than time, but the pace of change in Soviet society is even faster than that.

Zamindar Janardhan Rao, a paterfamilias, holds high esteem in society. One of his sons, Bachi, is a vagabond and malicious, his misdeeds increasing day by day. Shankar and his assistant Raju(Thengai Srinivasan is deputed to the Nilgiris to investigate a case of mysterious murder. C. I. D. Ashokan(Pakkirisamy) also stay for the town, who pose at research of herbal, his close relation of lover's club dancer Reeta(Jayakumari). Ashokan finds all truth and he goes to Nagamalai estate, where he gives lift to a young girl who explodes her belt.Ashokan gives diary and locker key to Vithya(Sakunthala) who saves his life and admits him in the hospital. But unfortuneately ashokan was killed by the mysterious gang in hospital. Vithya gives the things to Shankar and both fall in love. Raju falls in love with actress Rama(Kumari Radha), who also stays in the same hotel. Shankar meet Reeta and asks her to help him. She gives information to his assistant Raju and later on she is killed by the same mysterious gang.

Escaping a raging wildfire, Obi and his mother take refuge in a shelter. There, Obi meets Connor. The two boys come from different backgrounds and have dissimilar ambitions. But for a brief moment, it seems that all of this can be overcome.
