VERDUN The frontline

Documentary using animated maps, recreations and period footage, on conflicts around a French stronghold which the Germans briefly captured during the battle of Verdun in WWI, between February and October of 1916.

Young Frenchwoman Mathilde searches for the truth about her missing fiancé, lost during World War I, and learns many unexpected things along the way. The love of her life is gone. But she refuses to believe he's gone forever — and she needs to know for sure.

The wife of a former general in the German army received a letter in witch she was informed that her husband has to enlist in the German army and fight on the frontline. Affected by this news, she opposed the commanders who brought the letter, which shot her on the site. Her husband, in an act of revenge, starts being a hero on the frontline, violating orders and deciding the fate of the battle of Verdun.

Documentary concerning the battle of Verdun which, with its weapons of mass destruction, marked the beginning of modern warfare in what is considered to be the most gruesome military confrontation of World War I. The programme conveys the horror of this military inferno, illustrating the similar experiences of the French and German soldiers and their struggle for survival. It also provides the unknown soldier with a face through various letters, diaries and private photographs.

A head on confrontation, no help from their allies, army versus army, nation versus nation. 11 months of fighting, over 2 million soldiers mobilised and 300,000 dead. We look back at this insane battle that was to become the bloodiest chapter of WWI.

Prior to the events of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Svitlana was a succsesful architect who hosted lectures at a major university. After her small hometown has been succsesfully liberated and secured from the enemy forces, she returns to teaching online via video calls, being kept company by her two surviving neighbors: a woman who claims to be a practicing witch and a homicide investigator and war veteran named Kornii. After a strange discovery during the reconstruction of Svitlana's house, a series of seemingly supernatural events unfolds, bending the meanings of time and space and putting everyone she knows and loves at risk.

The film portrays the life of the legendary Azerbaijani guerrilla of the Second World War Mehdi Huseynzadeh, who fought the Nazi forces in the present-day Italy and Slovenia, hence the film's name On distant shores referring to the Adriatic Sea.

At the outbreak of war, the strength of the German Navy was not adequate for the needs of a major war, although they did achieve some remarkable results during the early years of the conflict; they were to end the war with only two operational battleships.

With veterans of the 'Panzertruppe' this film documents with accuracy, the development and effects the various marks of Panzer through vivid recollections, depicts the experiences shared by crews, of going into battle in their steel chariots, knowing perfectly well that within one blazing moment, their tanks could become steel coffins.

Encircling and Suppressing

On September 1st, 1939, Nazi Germany invades Poland, unleashing World War II. On September 17th, the Soviet Red Army crosses the border. The Polish army, unable to fight on two fronts, is defeated. Thousands of Polish men, both military and government officials, are captured by the invaders. Their fate will only be known several years later.
