My grandfather, married for 57 years in Costa Rica, died in a fire in 2019. My father revealed to me that, like myself, my grandfather was gay. After this revelation, together we revisit my grandfather's life, seeking to give him one last act of liberation while discovering ourselves in the process.

The film explores the issue of Costa Rica's neutrality in the face of its dependence on U.S. aid.

Elena, a vegetarian working in a butcher's shop, tells us from her workplace the story of the 'super pigs', a plague of hybrid pigs descended from wild boars and domestic pigs, which are invading the United States and Canada.

Women of the Mangrove is the story of the Mudecoop Cooperative. Manzanillo is a small fishing town on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica that struggles with poverty and government neglect. In response to this adversity, the women of Manzanillo joined forces to found the Mudecop cooperative.

We then move to the farmland, with coffee and bananas being the primary agricultural export crops.
