To date, I’ve watched 87 movies starring FPJ, and this movie marks number 88. After having seen that many, the common themes of an FPJ action movie are easy to distinguish and unfortunately, this one doesn't really offer anything different. The story is a familiar as far an action tentpole is; a man seeks justice for the murder of his family. When he gets blindsided by a corrupt legal system and the lack of actual justice, he finds himself taking his vengeance into his own hands . While having that gritty and slow pace to build tension, the film heavily relies entirely on predictable prejudices against local authorities and the justice system. It unfortunately strips the anticipation and tension right out of the revenge arc. FPJ stars alongside regulars Dencio Padilla as the loyal friend and Paquito Diaz as the contrabida, with support from a young Coney Reyes and Tina Monasterio. Overall, it’s a decent watch, but definitely if not watched in conjunction of previous FPJ features.
