Nacho Libre is loosely based on the story of Fray Tormenta ("Friar Storm"), aka Rev. Sergio Gutierrez Benitez, a real-life Mexican Catholic priest who had a 23-year career as a masked luchador. He competed in order to support the orphanage he directed.

It was the 37th annual SummerSlam and took place on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. This was the second SummerSlam event to emanate from Cleveland, after the 1996 event, which was held at the Gund Arena (now known as Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse). WWE wrestler and Cleveland area native The Miz served as the host of the event.

In 1983 World Class Championship Wrestling and its franchise stars, the Von Erich brothers, were known around the world. A small Dallas based promotion running out of a shack of a venue, the Sportatorium, World Class was one of the most syndicated television programs in America, making the Von Erichs household names. Run by legendary wrestler Fritz Von Erich, a.k.a. Jack Adkinsson, World Class made his oldest sons, Kevin, David and Kerry, three of hte biggest stars in the world of wrestling. Little did anyone know that just as the Von Erichs and World Class were reaching worldwide stardom they would begin a downfall that would cast a full eclipse on their meteoric rise to fame. Directed by Brian Harrison who, as a ten year old in 1983, watched on television as wrestling's world of staged combat between good and evil took a sharp turn into a surreal and tragic reality.

Tina Armstrong is a wrestling superstar. Helena Douglas is an athlete with a tragic past. Christie Allen earns her keep as a thief and an assassin-for-hire.

Il-bong was utterly defeated as a wrestling athlete. He decides against returning to his hometown and stays in Seoul. As he wanders the street, going from job to job, someone recommends him to become an actor. But the acting roles that are waiting Il-bong are in adult movies. At the set, Il-bong meets Ae-ja and falls in love with her. They give up the adult films and Ae-ja gets pregnant. Because they are desperately poor, Ae-ja has a miscarriage and Il-bong curses his incompetence. The two decide to part for one year. During that time, Il-bong becomes a male prostitute and makes a ferocious amount of money. But he has become tough without realizing it. After the year is over, Il-bong goes to their promised meeting place but Ae-ja is nowhere to be seen. Il-bong wails to the city.

Survival of the Fittest was a wrestling event promoted by Ring of Honor. It took place on June 24, 2004 at the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

D'Arcy turned heel at QoC 11 on May 21, where she was defeated by Jessicka Havok. She continued her villainous persona later that night at QoC 12, losing to Solo Darling.

D'Arcy Dixon debuted for the North Carolina-based Queens of Combat promotion on March 19, 2016, serving as the lone babyface in a three way match between Su Yung and Taylor Made at QoC 9, which Taylor won. Queens of Combat was in Gibsonville, NC on May 21 for QoC 12. Results: Dominique Fabiano defeated Rudy Jordan. The Sexy Young Caramels (Ariel Monroe, Devyn Nicole and Savannah Evans) defeated Kennadi Brink, Ray Lyn and Samantha Heights. Solo Darling defeated D'Arcy Dixon. Nicole Savoy defeated LuFisto. Tessa Blanchard defeated Candice LeRae. Malia Hosaka vs. Su Yung ended in a double count out. Taeler Hendrix defeated Jessika Havok to retain the QoC championship.
