During the late 1980s, two detectives in rural South Korea attempt to solve a series of gruesome rape-and-murders of young women that leave the community terrified using limited resources and outdated methods. But when the murderer strikes several more times with the same pattern, the detectives realize that they are chasing the country's first documented serial killer. They then attempt to piece together the clues in this thriller based on true events.

Based on the long running play by Jang Jin, the story is set in Korea during the Korean War in 1950. Soldiers from both the North and South, as well as an American pilot, find themselves in a secluded and naively idealistic village, its residents unaware of the outside world, including the war.

Yeon-Seo (Yang Ha-Eun) majors in music at an university. She travels to Seoul to meet her older sister Jin-Seo. When she arrives at her sister's house, Yeon-Seo sees a large crowd and police there. Yeon-Seo learns that her sister was found dead. The police concluded that her death was a suicide. Yeon-Seo doubts her sister took her own life and begins to investigate. Detective Kim (Oh Gwang-Rok), impressed by Yeon-Seo's efforts, reexamines the case.
