The film tells about the collision of cars outside Baku on New Year's Eve. During the heated argument between drivers and passengers who are blaming each other, the heroes are about to completely forget that there are only a few minutes left until New Year, and they have to make an urgent decision about how to spend it...

The events take place in New York in the apartment of the mother of the owner of a seafood restaurant, Barney Cashman. The man is already over 40. One fine day he thinks that he has lived a gray, boring life: he has never cheated on his wife, never got into a fight, or gotten involved in any adventure.

Saxophonist walks through the city at night. He is haunted by a melody, an annoying motif, like a fluttering butterfly, he first appears and then dissolves again in the darkness of the night.
