Kaanchi movie is a musical thriller with a love story. It is a story of the inner power of a woman who represents millions of suppressed youth against unjust in the country. It is also the story of an innocent rural beauty and her fight against power.

Rakesh (Mithun Chakraborty), a small town boy, has been torn away from his family due to several crisis. His family consisted of his father(Aloknath), mother(Tanuja) and sister(Dipa Sahi). Terror strikes in the family after Aloknath has been sent to jail in fraudulent cases. He himself is on the run due to police threats. In due course of his time, Rakesh meets Lakshmi(Mandakini) and love blossoms. Even though Rakesh tries being truthful, He enters a different world. Amar lives a middle-class life with his Police Inspector brother, Suryaveer, and sister-in-law, Beena. Suryaveer is assigned to handle the task of apprehending a group of terrorists, headed by Jumbo, who have made their hideout in a dense forest in Central India. Suryaveer's partner is Inspector Satpal, who is an alcoholic. Suryaveer is also told that six other police inspectors have lost their lives in this assignment. Nevertheless, Suryaveer and Satpal get ready to tackle this task and do penetrate deep into the forests. Then Beena gets the devastating news that Satpal has been injured and her husband has been killed. The police assign this matter to another Police Inspector by the name of Vikas, and Amar and Satpal lend a hand to support him.

Satyaprakash is an honest security officer who works at the docks in a small town in India, and lives with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vishambernath; wife, Janki, a blind daughter, Munni; and an unmarried sister, Juhi.
