The Lord sends his archangel Raphael to earth to finish some unresolved matters. Raphael ends up in Amsterdam and gets entangled in local troubles, including womenemancipation, secularisation and the impending restructuring of the city center. The musical alludes to local, then topical issues. This musical was on the occasion of the seven hundredth anniversary of the city of Amsterdam, and loosely based on 'Gijsbrecht van Aemstel', the 17th-century history play by Joost van den Vondel.

The comedy duo broke up after their last program: Van Vleuten has started a second-hand bookstore and seeks solitude. The TV-personality Van Muiswinkel regularly visits his intellectual friend and gradually takes on increasingly insane guises.

Zoals astrologen geloven dat het moment waarop je geboren bent en de stand van de sterren onze levensloop beïnvloeden. Zo denk ik dat ik de wereld beter ga maken. In ieder geval voor mezelf, want: verbeter de wereld, begin bij jezelf. En als iedereen dat doet wordt het toch beter.
