The first film made by Markopoulos after moving to Europe, Bliss was shot over the course of two days using only available light to create a lyrical study of the interior of the Church of St. John on the island of Hydra.

Amidst a mostly Catholic community, a small tiny Anglican church offers more to the community of Placentia than people may think, and holds many connections and history to the rest of the world.

High above the Yesa reservoir lies what was once a village, now nothing more than memories: Tiermas. There, where families and dreams once thrived, wild vegetation now reigns, along with a silence that embraces the passage of time. Yet, if we look closely at what were once streets, houses, and churches, we can sense the whispers of the lives and memories of a community forced to flee its very essence. Tiermas is a limbo between oblivion and nostalgia, where the water has advanced and the trees have grown, but the stories refuse to fade away.

A free church pastor in Aarhus is reported to the police for having violated seven women in the congregation, with two of the women accusing him of rape. The pastor admits to inappropriate relationships, but claims it was consensual. The police drop the case due to lack of evidence, as it is currently not illegal for a pastor to have sex with adult members of the congregation, as long as they are over 18. But should the law be changed? The prosecution has charged the pastor with showing inappropriate nude images, with a reservation to seek deportation and compensation.

Is My Living in Vain is a meditation on the continuing history and emancipatory potential of the Black church as a space of belonging, affirmation and community organising. The area of Hildale, Utah, and Colorado City, Ariz., was settled by members of a breakaway faction of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that continued to practice polygamy after the church had banned it.
