The second of three pilot shorts that eventually became the 1989 movie Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland.

Miriam is an unemployed journalist who has a beat on a story that could turn her bad luck around. Her dad is an evangelical who believes the fossil record derived from Noah's Flood. For ten years, he has lived in the Mojave Desert, running a paleontology museum. Miriam ventures west to interview him about what made him a creationist.

Thumbelina finds shelter with a field mouse. There she cares for a sick swallow. The mouse wants to marry Thumbelina off to the mole, but the little girl manages to escape with the help of the swallow. They both fly off to the sunny south.
