In 1958, graduates of the Film School in Łódź – director Mieczysław Waśkowski and camera operator Adam Nurzyński – produced in cooperation with Tadeusz Kantor the short film Somnambulists. The colourful, painting-like moving image was an attempt at transferring the informel onto film stock.

The main character is studying in his house in Malabo when, suddenly, the power is cut. He tries to look for a candle, but he falls down because of the darkness. The light comes back and he can start to study again, but this does not last long. The power goes off again, the character tries to fix it, but he has an electric accident. When the light comes back on, he appears with “Rasta” hair and, a few seconds later, the power is cut for the third time.

Two rival villages, Flåklypa and Slidre, decide to re-launch their traditional Cheese Race after years of inactivity. The boastful bird Luca, the anxious hedgehog Louis and the kind-hearted inventor Reodor are sure they’ll come out on top in this adventurous showdown.

When Fawn mentions to Tinker Bell, Rosetta, Iridessa, Silvermist and Vidia that a group of crocodiles is called a float, Tinker Bell asks Fawn to share more knowledge of animal groups. So, Fawn promptly pulls out her Animal Group Songbook. This short from the extras of the Blu-ray of "Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeat" features the song "Fawn's Animal Group Song."

This film was made by punching circular holes into fully opaque film stock and laying discs of colour film into some of the punched holes. Only the original copy of this film exists – it cannot be printed and is therefore projected only on rare occasions. As with other Le Grice films from the late 1960s, Spot the Microdot is marked by a radical rejection of ‘illusionism’, choosing to focus instead on the material properties of the film medium itself.
