The Living Sword

During China's Warring States period, a district prefect arrives at the palace of Qin Shi Huang, claiming to have killed the three assassins who had made an attempt on the king's life three years ago.

Two warriors in pursuit of a stolen sword and a notorious fugitive are led to an impetuous, physically-skilled, teenage nobleman's daughter, who is at a crossroads in her life.

When Situ discovers that the prince has escaped, he falsifies the late King's will and has himself crowned as king. However, the female Robin Hood has stolen the original will. The female Robin Hood kills Situ and installs the crown prince as the ruler.

It tells the story of Hong Hai Er, who was already adopted by Guanyin Bodhisattva as the Fortune Kid. He followed the mentor’s order to practice at the Test of Fate. Hong Hai Er wanted to become a hero but was excluded by others due to his mixed heritage of immortal and demon. Facing misunderstandings and the imminent catastrophe, Hong Hai Er abandoned stereotypes and aggressiveness resolutely at the critical moment and battled the evil bravely with Ne Zha and Miss Dragon. Eventually, he beat the evil and won the recognition of everyone.

Tien Yua, most well known for being the bad guy in Wang Yu films, especially the One Armed Boxer is the good guy here. Frankie Wei is in it as his rival. This is a rare film.

Princess Fragrance is a 1987 Hong Kong film based on Louis Cha's novel The Book and the Sword. The film is a sequel to The Romance of Book and Sword, which was released earlier in the same month and was also directed by Ann Hui.
