Chopin: The Chopin Piano Concertos

In 1830s France, pianist/composer Frédéric Chopin is pursued romantically by the determined, individualistic woman who uses the name George Sand.

Arthur Rubinstein's 1964 recital in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, filmed and recorded by Soviet television and preserved in its archives, in a program of work of Chopin and — in encores introduced from the stage by Rubinstein — Schumann, Chopin, Debussy, and Villa-Lobos.

At the peak of his career, Ivo Pogorelich was filmed at Racconigi Castle in Italy playing four major works by Chopin as well as sonatas by Haydn an dMozart. Director Horant H. Hohlfeld captures the pianist's virtuosity in revealing close-ups.
