Things are turbulent at the Munich Institute for Molecular Research: physicist Jakob, a distracted professor, and his colleague Lehmann are working flat out on an incredible transformation project to solve the world hunger problem. However, if Jakob does not provide practical proof of his theories within 24 hours, his project is to have the lights switched off or the funding withdrawn. On the umpteenth attempt, the unbelievable suddenly happens: a simple beer bottle turns into an oriental miracle vessel in the transformer - in which the genie Tabatah lives! She was supposed to be married off to the Prince of Baghdad by her uncle Assis, but falls in love with her new lord and master Jacob, to whom she now owes three wishes. But Jacob is far too busy to realize who Tabatah really is and how she feels about him.

Ex-boxer Kalle is supposed to collect money from widowed mother-of-three Anne. At first he plays the tough guy. When he realizes that she won't be intimidated, his good heart wins out: Kalle lends a hand so that her plan to turn her farm into a guesthouse and pay off the debts with money from the tourism promotion scheme works out. Produced by WGBH-TV in Boston, the Medium Is the Medium is one of the earliest and most prescient examples of the collaboration between public television and the emerging field of video art in the U.S. WGBH commissioned artists — Allan Kaprow, Nam June Paik, Otto Piene, James Seawright, Thomas Tadlock and Aldo Tambellini — to create original works for broadcast television. Their works explored the parameters of the new medium, from image processing and interactivity to video dance and sculpture.

In 1981, Gerd Heidemann, a war correspondent and reporter with the German magazine Stern, makes what he believes is the literary and historical scoop of the century: the personal diaries of Adolf Hitler. Over the next two years, Heidemann and the senior management figures at Stern secretly pay 10 million German marks to a mysterious 'Dr Fischer' for the sixty volumes of 'Hitler's diaries'. However, to the dismay of all, it is discovered after the publication of first extract that the diaries are crude forgeries, faked by Stuttgart criminal Konrad Kujau.
