In 1970s England, three blue-collar friends spend their days joking, drinking, fighting and chasing girls. Lisa (Xenia Kalogeropoulou) runs away from her father at the Athens airport because she does not want to marry a rich man from Paris whom her father has chosen for her. She hitchhikes to the city, where she meets Giorgos (Kostas Kakkavas) a handsome driver. Then, she runs away from him as well and tries to find her mother’s brother (Iordanis), whom she has never seen before. Her father publishes her photo in the newspapers and offers a reward of one hundred thousand drachmas to anyone who finds her. Lisa is now afraid that everyone can identify her, and so, in order to hide, she mingles with a group of tourists. However, she is unaware that her uncle is their guide. Giorgos has followed her in order to find out the reason she left him so suddenly, takes her in his car one more time, and they spend the night together.

Norman Pitkin and Mr Grimsdale are council workmen mending the road outside an Army base when they come into conflict with the military. Shortly afterwards, they get drafted and fall into the clutches of the Sergeant they have just bested. They are sent to France to repair roads in front of the Allied advance but get captured. Pitkin takes advantage of a useful similarity to impersonate General Schreiber and manages to return a hero

A force of loners and fighters is put together to try and rescue the generals and save the war effort with the promise of gold and pardons of past crimes.

Greek Sea, World War II. An Italian ship leaves a handful of soldiers in a little island; their mission is to spot enemy ships and to hold the island in case of attack. The village of the island seems abandoned and there isn't a single enemy in sight, so the soldiers begin to relax a little. Things change when their ship is hit and destroyed by the enemy, and the soldiers find themselves abandoned there.

A by-the-book Captain is ordered to capture a strategic village in Italy. The Italian soldiers are willing to surrender, if they can have a festival first. The lieutenant convinces the Captain this is the only way. Because of aerial reconnaissance, they must look like they are fighting. To sort this out an intelligence officer is sent in. Meanwhile the festival gets complicated with the Mayors daughter.

During the Nazi occupation of Poland, an acting troupe becomes embroiled in a Polish soldier's efforts to track down a German spy.
