The Abyss of Man

A group of students finds themselves in an academic environment, which hides a terrifiying danger. Should they stay? Where to expect a menace from? What would happen if they try to leave? Students are forced to find it all out by themselves, without getting any hints.

With the death of her mother, eight-year-old Anna ends her childhood: From now on, she has to look after the nine-member family. Deprivation-rich years, which also find no end when Anna marries: Her husband Albert must be a soldier in the Second World War, and the pregnant Anna has to work hard in the farm and care sick relatives. Lonely and exposed to the harassment of the tyrannical mother-in-law, she waits for Albert, with no certainty that he will ever return.

While unpacking boxes in her childhood home, Sofia comes across an old camcorder. As she watches the tapes, the shaky footage awakens fragments of a past she thought was buried. The voices, laughter, and captured silences become the thread of a memory she tries to piece back together — or perhaps to rewrite.

Then he does not react adult-like at all, but shirks the responsibility, which leads to the break-up with his girlfriend Daniela. Furthermore, Klaus does not realize that several of the places he likes the most in his environment are now going to be sacrificed to mining. When Klaus becomes friends with the teacher Konzak and with the construction worker Jule, he feels understood for the first time and starts to take more responsibility.

Priya, an exceptional yet obsessive pianist at Berklee School of Music, struggles to meet the demands of her professor’s unorthodox senior showcase assignment: to compose a piece that encapsulates her greatest fear.

As their son's health deteriorates, a couple grapples with the strain on their already fragile relationship being put to the test, leading to intense arguments, emotional distance, and secrets revealed, as they begin to either rally together in support of their son or succumb to the weight of despair.

In a casino in a We'5t German health resort, one often sees Sybille - an attractive young student actress. With her winnings from the roulette table, she attempts to finance her studies. Despite a rather lucky streak, her winnings are a little on the lean side. She doesn't, however, gamble with her own money but with that of Dr. Busch, a lawyer, who likes to stay in the background with the argument that gambling houses are not the proper turf for a serious lawyer. From him, Sybille receives only a small share of her winnings later, and only through the intervention of Gerhard Fischer, a journalist, does Sybille come to realize her role in Dr. Busch's fraudulent scheme.

A reunion between a mother and her pregnant daughter, who need a moment to recognize themselves and to understand that they will live together again in a new situation for both of them. An exercise made by the author during her second trimester at the London Film School, inspired by the painting "La Coiffure" by Edgar Degas.
