Dorothy Gale, a shy kindergarten teacher, is swept away to the magic land of Oz where she embarks on a quest to return home.

In 1976, Canadian stuntman Ken Carter declared his intention to jump a mile over the St. Lawrence Seaway in a rocket powered car. In 2008, Canadian musician Mark Haney declared his intention to pay tribute to Ken Carter in the form of a concept album for solo double bass. In 2011, Canadian filmmaker John Bolton declared his intention to make a "musical docudrama" about both men. Aim for the Roses is a one-of-a-kind film, about a one-of-a-kind album, about a one-of-a-kind stunt, all three of which could only happen in Canada.

The famous singer Roberto Ricci wants to save himself from his overly intrusive female fans with a fake marriage. Mr. Praxl from the marriage institute Eros finds him his own granddaughter Gertie, who works as a waitress and wants to finance her own singing and dancing career with the fee for the role of his wife. To comply with Mr. Ricci's wishes, the attractive Gertie disguises herself as a wallflower with her hair pinned up and high-necked dresses. The act has the desired effect on Roberto's female followers. Over time, however, Gertie and Roberto actually fall in love with each other, which sparks the jealousy of Roberto's stage partner Loretta. With the help of Füllkrug, she tries to thwart the budding romance.

Snake Prince (Ti Lung) is wandering with his snake buddies when he happens upon a beautiful maiden (Lin Chen-Chi) singing a prayer for rain. The song soon turns into a funky dance with the whole drought-blighted village, so the prince and his pals assume human form and join the party. The prince is so smitten with the maiden that he offers to share the snakes' river with the village if he can marry her. The villagers aren't too fond of the idea of marrying off their No. 1 babe to a snake, prince or no, but they really do need that water.

Two co-workers in a music shop dislike one another during business hours but unwittingly carry on an anonymous romance through the mail.

Robert, Peter and Fritz are the best of friends ... and hopelessly broke. But they don't let that stop them and in short order, they end up renting a deserted gas station. The film presents thirteen rhythms of flamenco, each with song, guitar, and dance: the up-tempo bularías, a brooding farruca, an anguished martinete, and a satiric fandango de huelva. There are tangos, a taranta, alegrías, siguiriyas, soleás, a guajira of patrician women, a petenera about a sentence to death, villancicos, and a final rumba.

In an alternate Japan, territorial street gangs form opposing factions collectively known as the Tokyo Tribes. The simmering tension between them is about to boil over into all-out war.
