61 years after his assassination, Patrice Lumumba returns to his country. "Congo returns to Congo" as one of his children said. Lumumba was a nationalist leader who intended to use his country's enormous wealth for the benefit of his people. He became the first Prime Minister in the history of Congo on June 30, 1960, when the country gained its independence after 80 years of Belgian colonial rule. Seven months later, he was assassinated in Katanga province with two of his best political allies: Joseph Okito and Maurice Mpolo. Their bodies were dissolved in sulfuric acid and only one of Patrice Lumumba's teeth remained. This "relic" was taken from Lumumba's corpse and kept in secret by a police commissioner until his death in 2000. The assassination of the nationalist and anti-colonialist leader was followed by the advent of the dictator Mobutu, who was able to remain in place until 1997, thanks to Western support.

Between 2013 and 2023, Slovenian Cinematheque preserved and digitized 179 short films created on a tiny stretch of land between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea in the period of socialism (1945-1991), but mostly outside the prevailing state production. Today, we belatedly recognize these films as experimental and as an important, innovative part of the Slovenian film heritage, visible again for the first time after decades. The production of Alpe-Adria Underground! has radically accelerated efforts to preserve, digitize and restore this segment of Slovenian cinema.

Alfonso Salido Zambrana, 59, has been battling colon cancer since September 2021, the most diagnosed cancer in Spain and the second deadliest. Although the advanced cancer diagnosis was a heavy blow, Alfonso didn’t give up his active life and dedicated even more energy to cycling, a passion he discovered at 44. His children, Francisco and Verónica, are also cyclists, and she started riding to support her father. Three years later, Alfonso remains full of life and motivation. He rides about 60 kilometers a day, except on chemotherapy days, which are every two weeks. The physical exhaustion from the treatment, he says, fades away as he pedals on the road.
