After a lifetime together, Susana has been abandoned by her husband. She is in denial and holds on to the past. One day, she needs the help of her neighbor, Gloria, a free-spirited woman that she can’t stand. But the friendship that emerges between them awakens Susana's desire to live in the present.

Allie is a newly out teen who is keeping her girlfriend a secret from her Chinese American family. During her family’s celebration of the Hungry Ghost Festival, Allie meets the ghost of a long lost relative named Maxine, who was queer when she was alive several decades ago. Though they come from different times, they find that they share many feelings about struggling to belong, especially within their own family’s legacy.

The story takes place in a dystopia deprived of freedom of making choices and begins as the protagonist, decides for the first time in his life to escape to Yass Land where any decisions are celebrated. He escapes a fictional land in which the civilians' actions are controlled and monitored by the government. The actor deviates from the controlled community for freedom in YAASS land. As he flees, viewers are given two actions that the actor could take. The story continues on from the actions they choose, leading to different endings.

August has to put up with quite a lot. Ever since his parents separated, his father no longer seems to have any time for him. To console him, his Dad gives him a sweet little dog. But his mother refuses to have the animal in her house and before long there are shouting matches on the phone again. August can hear them arguing through his bedroom door – it's something he seems to have become used to. When his mother remains adamant about not having the dog, August packs his bags to move in with his father. But there’s no place for him in his father’s new family either. And so the boy makes up his mind to create a drastic wake-up call. Told from the boy’s perspective, this coming-of-age drama describes the situation for children who are caught in the middle when their parents decide to separate.
