Newark: The Slow Road Back

This documentary follows the 2002 mayoral campaign in Newark, New Jersey, in which a City Councilman, Cory Booker, attempted to unseat longtime mayor Sharpe James.

This follow-up to the 1989 documentary ONE YEAR IN A LIFE OF CRIME revisits three of the original subjects in New Jersey during a five-year period in the 1990s. We share in their triumphs and setbacks as they navigate lives of poverty, drug abuse, AIDS, and petty crime.

Helju Tauk (1930 - 2005) was a versatile and bright personality, pianist, pedagogue, musicologist, music promoter and one of the founders of the Tallinn Music High School. She was also a dissident and she shared knowledge with her students not only about music, but also about culture and life in general. She experienced the repressions of the KGB, she was banned from teaching and performing, but she bravely continued her activities. In the film, Helju Tauk's friends and students share their memories of her.

The special examines the legal complaint brought against Justin Baldoni by Blake Lively, alleging he engaged in sexual misconduct on the set of his film, It Ends With Us, and hired a PR firm to engage in an online smear campaign against her to keep her quiet. Baldoni denies the allegations and has responded with a $400m counter-suit, accusing her of defamation. With the trial set for March 2026, the special examines the evidence on both sides and the response to the dispute on social media.

Together with Ardhito Pramono, Ridho traveled to various areas in Ambon, such as Hutumury, Amahusu, Batu Merah, to Dusun Tuni, to learn and study various Ambonese musical instruments.
