Former London constable Nicholas Angel finds it difficult to adapt to his new assignment in the sleepy British village of Sandford. She also wants to find out why he suddenly contacted her out of the blue, asking to borrow a large sum of money. Her journey takes her to the Indonesian island of Bali, where she not only meets her father, but also, thanks to him, becomes part of an expedition in search of a legendary treasure that is said to be lost forever.
