Overview

Rembrandt Macy (Tom Berenger) is a maverick cop assigned to a case where the primary evidence is a woman's hand found in a pond. Investigators identify the dead, and Macy is lead into a young woman's past. Macy's primary path to understanding the victim is through one of her roommates, Nikki. Through Nikki and others, Macy learns of the victim's shady contacts at City Hall, the involvement of a gang of Asian drug runners, and the sordid affairs of one of the city's bigwigs. As Macy begins to understand how all these crimes fit together, he learns that his new friend Nikki is not an innocent bystander.

Yeah, it's a B-Movie. It stinks of B-Movie. It's a neo-noir sort of trope filled strip club obsessed cop movie... ... but it is an entertaining one. It is surprisingly well acted Even after the opening shoot out you could almost feel Berringer on the brink of a heart attack. It's got old faces that still know how to pull a trick or two and some new faces that really need a shot at the big shows. Here and there, like the guy that owns the strip club, you see the standard stage fair, but even then the acting isn't so bad that it stands out. It is a cheap little B-movie, but it's well written for what it is, it's very well directed, and it's well acted. Up the budget, polish the script, and you would have yourself a gem of a film.
