Tales of the Bizarre: 2011 Spring Special

Adam's plan to propose to Allie hits a snag when he must win over her skeptical dad and survive a wild family gathering. Little does this family know that a much bigger problem crashed down in the woods the night they arrived: a big, body-snatching, hive queen alien, and it’s looking for its perfect match. Soon enough, the alien will take the family members one by one. Adam will have to team up with Government Agent Owens to take down the alien, rescue his girlfriend, and save the rest of the world.

This omnibus release consists of three playlets filmed and aired during television's Golden Age, and starring some of the legends of film and television. The collection originally ran as a two-hour segment on December 14, 1959, on the anthology series The Play of the Week, broadcast locally in New York City via the independent radio station WNTA. Each "tale" in the anthology was adapted from a single tale by the inimitable Sholom Aleichem, regarded by many as the "Yiddish Mark Twain". Included are: "A Tale of Chelm" starring Zero Mostel and Nancy Walker in the story of a bookseller attempting to buy a goat; "Bontche Schweig" about a poor man (Jack Gilford) whose recent arrival in Heaven makes the angels cry; and "The High School" about a Jewish merchant (Morris Carnovsky) persuaded by his wife (Gertrude Berg) to let their son attend a particular high school despite the enforcement of quotas for Jewish students.

A couple watching a horror film about a strangely familiar basement realise they're dreaming when they suddenly find themselves in the very same basement. And that's when it sees them - it knows they shouldn't be awake.

In Japan, the vampire-hunter Saya, who is a powerful original, is sent by her liaison with the government, David, posed as a teenage student to the Yokota High School on the eve of Halloween to hunt down vampires. Saya asks David to give a new katana to her. Soon she saves the school nurse Makiho Amano from two vampires disguised of classmates and Makiho witnesses her fight against the powerful demon.

A group of teenage friends who seeks the thrill of ghost-hunting, and stumbles upon an old camera. As they carelessly play with it, they unknowingly summon the demon that exists inside. The demon possesses one of them, thus setting off a chain of horrific events that could turn fatal for everyone.

"Beast of Prey" features a woman attempting to evade a monster. "Changeling" follows a mother with a mysterious child. "Night Swim" a woman at a pool sees spirits. "Polaroid" follows a man as he uses a camera in self-defense. "Landgraves" features a man interviewing a metal band accused of murder. "Every Night I See Them" follows a man trying to keep himself awake. "Mommy" makes dinner while watching her child on a camera.
