Into a starry sky full of coloured spots! The propellers have been revved up. Accompanied by the drone and roar of the engine, the aircraft takes off. Its mission, to be followed live: compare images, sort out, superimpose, create a visual reality of dots and pixels. A park is requested, but with how many trees? A racy car is dreamt of, but which design is sleek enough? The variables dictated by the pilot determine what appears on the monitor – sculptures of possibilities or morphed set pieces. The tank is filled with millions of continuously flowing images for an infinite number of combinations. But who controls the projected flight path?

A new-to-town carer forms an unlikely bond with her first patient, an elderly man with onset dementia, and together they find ways to reconcile with their pasts and help each other overcome their sense of loneliness.

"Welcome to the World of Dementia" is an NHK program adapted from the book "A Travel Guide to the World of Dementia" by Japanese author Yusuke Kakei. The protagonist embarks on a journey through the "world of dementia," encountering a specific symptom of dementia on each trip. For example, in a village of faceless people, he cannot see the faces of his friends, reflecting the difficulties dementia patients face in recognizing faces, friends, and family members. It metaphorically illustrates "the world through the eyes of dementia patients," leading viewers to understand the symptoms and physical and mental changes of dementia.

On the night of one day, the passage had become a quiet river just like a mirror. This story is a tale in which the goldfish which grew old, and the grandma of dementia go down the river of memory.
