A knight and his wife live in a small house in the middle of nowhere. Every day he fights passing knights and is rewarded by his wife with lots of love and delicious meals.

Two men in adjoining duplexes, good friends, are enchanted by the song of a bird. One buys a small harmonica and learns to play it; he keeps his neighbor awake. The neighbor buys a larger harmonica, and an arms race ensues; the instruments get larger, until it's a piano vs. a pipe organ, and then they start bringing in larger groups of friends until an entire orchestra is playing the 1812 Overture. The houses collapse from all this, atop the dueling orchestras, and on their way up to heaven, the man puts his small harmonica up for sale.

The story takes place in a dystopia deprived of freedom of making choices and begins as the protagonist, decides for the first time in his life to escape to Yass Land where any decisions are celebrated. He escapes a fictional land in which the civilians' actions are controlled and monitored by the government. The actor deviates from the controlled community for freedom in YAASS land. As he flees, viewers are given two actions that the actor could take. The story continues on from the actions they choose, leading to different endings.

Centers on a boy named Osamu who receives an umbrella as a gift from Sayu, but it goes missing. That umbrella transforms into a girl who goes gallivanting around town on a rainy day.

The film centers on a solitary character who lives alone in an apartment, where strange, dreamlike events blur the lines between perception and reality. As the door closes behind him, multiple versions of himself emerge — each moving in unison yet representing fragments of his internal world.
