The story of Peter McGowan, a chain-smoking, impotent, insomniac playwright who lives in Los Angeles. Once very successful, he is now in the tenth year of a decade-long string of production failures. He finds himself bonding with a new neighbor's lonely young daughter who has mild cerebral palsy; and during one of his middle-of-the-night strolls, he encounters his oddball doppelgänger.

Ryoko Matsumura is a popular writer in her 50's. She also knows that she has Alzheimer’s. Ryoko Matsumura begins to teach at a university. She meets a young Korean man in his 20's. They become attracted to each other.

In this terribly poignant tale of memory, loss and love, Juliette, a young woman paying a visit to her Alzheimer's suffering father, unexpectedly triggers a brief but touching moment of lucidity between them. Mamma Gógó is about Gógó, an elderly lady, who is diagnosed with Alzheimer disease and her son’s and family’s reaction to her illness. While Gógó is continuously getting herself into trouble, of the kind only a person with Alzheimer can, the son, the director, is struggling with financial troubles after his film Children of Nature has flopped in the cinema. As Gógó‘s disease progresses her family decides that it is best for her to move to a nursing home. Gógó and her deceased husband, who appears on the scene, are not happy with that decision. The director is dependent on others when it comes to his finances and when Gógó settles into the nursing home he decides to sell his mother’s apartment and valuable artwork but the profits of the sale help him to get by.

En is an 18-year-old who has lost his father to cancer. As his family is drawn together in a sudden tragedy, he has to decide what he believes in. But in a country where ideologies are forged on constantly shifting sands, he struggles to stay true to what he knows to be right. And in a family that prefers to forget, the sandcastles of all he holds dear seem doomed to be washed away by the tides of time.

Martin, conductor of a symphonic orchestra, meet Barbara, violine player and they start a relationship. Five years later Martin starts to develop loss of memory and becomes more and more confused. Finally he is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and Barbara tries to help as much as possible although Martin is often angry and violent towards her.

Lübeck pastor Franziska Kemper has to marry her ex-husband Christoph and his heavily pregnant girlfriend Andrea. Not an easy situation, as she has not yet got over the breakdown of her marriage. And she is also challenged as a pastor: Paul Jacobsen, who suffers from dementia, wants to marry his new love and fellow patient. The problem is that he has been married for a long time but has forgotten about it. Franziska tries to do everyone justice and, above all, to support Jacobsen's wife Karin. She also has doubts about her fledgling love for Dr. Antonio Alvarez. He doesn't seem to be up to her patchwork family...

A theatre monologue in which a son visits his mother who suffers from Alzheimer's. While the son is talking to his mother's empty bed, the actor dresses up like her and has a conversation with the son. This play was remade as a regular feature film as Hersenschimmen (“ Mindshadows”), in 1988.

When a doctor is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's, his estranged son struggles to reconnect by reviving their shared memories, only to find the past harder to recover than expected. As both face personal upheavals, the family must confront pride, pain and lost time to rediscover the bond they thought they had lost forever.
