A sudden storm causes Chung Ting-Kwok, a guerrilla fighter during the Second Sino-Japanese War, to awaken after being frozen for over seventy years. He discovers that he is now in the year 2018. His son Ho Woh-Ping is fraudulently on welfare, while his grandson Ho Wing-Nin uses feng shui to deceive people for money, yet Ting-Kwok is unable to correct them. From covering up the truth of murder to getting caught up in a battle for money, Chung Ting-Kwok vows to save his family at any cost.

The history of the Phoenix Restaurant is closely intertwined with the stories of four women of different generations. It portrays the commonest marital problems and various kinds of stress suffered by women over the centuries.

Qiao Huazhi was a kindergarten teacher with an optimistic and cheerful personality. She lived a harmonious life with her mother and stepfather until one day she received a lawyer's letter asking her to inherit her biological father Jiang Yaozhu 51% stake in a seafood restaurant named Bailixian on Lamma Island, and met with her half-brother Jiang Shang, whom she had never met. Baili Xian was originally a famous restaurant on the island, but since Zhu's death, the position of the chef has been hanging, and the business has since plummeted. Zhiwei was inferior, so looking for the legendary genius chef Ma You to come back.

Two people from totally different backgrounds meet in the ‘Children’s Home’. MAN (KWOK HO YING, KENIX) is an orphan and grows up in the ‘Children’s Home’. She understands, from very young age, that future is in her own hands. She works hard to complete her university study and becomes a social worker. On the contrary, NICK (TAM YIU MAN, PATRICK), having a rich father, has everything he wants. He studied abroad and has a high paid job. However, he is unhappy. There is always a gap between him and his father. No matter how hard he works, his father is still not pleased. Under enormous pressure, he takes soft drugs and is arrested and sentenced to offer public services. He is assigned to work in the ‘Children’s Home’.

A Chip Off the Old Block is a 2009 TVB television drama from Hong Kong produced and created by Poon Ka Tak. The original broadcast was on the TVB Jade with approximately 45-minute long episodes airing five days a week. The final two episodes were an hour and a half long each, which aired during the weekends. Sergeant Xu Dahu broke several major cases, but his independent style led to conflicts with his supervisor, Li Pengfei, and he was transferred. Dahu resigned in frustration but was encouraged by his girlfriend, Ho Yuk-kam, to start a private detective agency. While taking the police officer's exam, Ho Zi-wai became friends with Li Chang-zi, who was frequently praised and promoted. Detectives Chung and Li suspect their superior, Siu To, of colluding with triads. Li discovers that his girlfriend was assaulted by a john associated with Siu To and seeks revenge. Later, when Siu To is implicated in a rape case, their subordinate, Ma, obtains evidence but is murdered, and witnesses are intimidated to leave the city. Chung is committed to making a big prosecution in the name of justice.

Restaurant owner Lu Ganyu has two sons and a daughter. His eldest son, Lu Wenjun, becomes a journalist and later opens his own newspaper. However, his newspaper is suppressed by rivals, making him realize the cunning nature of the business world and prompting him to change. Wenjun falls in love with Xiao Ailian and Zou Shujuan. Although he marries Shujuan, he can't forget about Ailian. In his bid for success, Wenjun ignores his family and even associates himself with Meng Yanhong, a famous matchmaker, leading to his eventual success but estrangement from his loved ones. Meanwhile, Huang and Wenjun's enemies conspire to take him down.
