I am one of those freaks that get super excited whenever things like this come on the TV. Even as a little kid I loved documentaries. This one is up there with Connections and Russia Land of the Tsars as one of my all time favorites. It's like they sat Jean Simmons down and told her..."we want you to read passages from the Bible...but they are mostly Old Testament, so read them as spooky as you can." And she is scary. The best narrative voice, even better than the guy that does Haunted History. It's a Biblical version of In Search Of... so it you liked that you will love Mysteries of the Bible. And it does it fair. It doesn't assume anything save for that it is dealing with Holy Writ and as such shows it the proper respect. So don't worry, if you are so anti-religious that you will blindly ignore it, you can still watch the show without being offended... ...and if you are the blindly religious type that to have everything literal...well...you'll hate it but at least you'll have to admit that it handled it respectfully. It balances history and religion very well and never draws conclusions.
