Due to her husband's work, Maiko moves with her husband to Tokyo from Hiroshima. They live in an apartment offered by her husband's company. Her husband is busy with work and comes home late every night. Maiko beings to talk with Futaba, who lives next door to her. Futaba is her husband's boss. They talk with each other from their porches. One day, Maiko learns that her husband is having an affair. She becomes closer to Futaba.

Eight years ago, a boy who got lost in a festival surrounded by the suspicious light of blue lanterns. Everyone wears a mask and continues to dance silently. Mita Sakura is bright and warm-hearted, but Tsukimoto Makoto is calm and cold-hearted. They do share the same desire to return these unidentified bodies to their families. To find the identities of these deceased people, they rely on the few clues that are left behind on them.

Kisaragi Minori, who thought she had a happy family with her pure love since they were students and was married to her husband Yudai, was blessed with children, but the story begins when she finds out that her husband Yudai has been cheating on her for 15 years. Minori, who has vowed to take revenge on Yudai, who has another family, and on his lover, Riko Miyake, plots her revenge using Riko's son, Wataru.

Yuzuhara Miku is a temporary employee who works for a reception desk at a department store. She has low self-confidence and worries about what others think of her, but she is clueless when it comes to makeup. Her elite lawyer boyfriend, Haruhisa, however, constantly tells her he prefers seeing her that way, so she wears minimal makeup because he favours her “modest” look.

The suspense story begins when Jin Saeki, a policeman in Yamanashi Prefecture, arrives at a prominent estate residence in response to a tip, and finds the skeletal remains of 13 children, as well as a mysterious marking. Jūzō Haikawa, the long-missing owner of the estate, immediately becomes the prime suspect. Saeki collaborates with a woman named Kanon Hasumi, who has a connection to Haikawa, and together they search for the truth behind the case. In a parallel story set in Tokyo seven years after the case, a girl with a connection to the mark left on the Haikawa estate runs away from home.

Ichiro Seike is a popular, 43 year old politician. He has gained popularity for his impressive smile and liberal speech and behavior. He is expected to be a future prime minster candidate. He has a secretary, Toshiya Suzuki, who carefully works to guide him to the prime minister position. They look like a perfect match as a politician and his secretary, but Reporter Kanae Michiura feels something is off about the relationship of these two. She begins to investigate their past and notices the mysterious deaths that have followed Ichiro Seike during his rise in politics. Her own father's death, who was also a reporter, is somehow connected to the politician's past.

Yui Saizo is a single, 29 year old woman and works in the crime laboratory at the Takanashi Police Station as a forensics examiner. She does her job well, due to her excellent memory and analytical mind. She prioritizes efficiency at her work. She also eschews the old-fashioned and traditional ways at the police station, like, working overtime or being liked by colleagues. She does have two close female colleagues at the police station. They are Masumi Kira and Iori Motoyama. Masumi Kira works as a physician in the medical office and Iori Motoyama works in the traffic department. Every Friday night, these 3 women gather at an izakaya pub and chat about everything including work and relationships. One Friday night, during the course of their normal conversation, they talk about a case that detectives at the police station are having trouble solving. Since then, they talk about difficult cases and try to solve the cases using their respective talents.

This is a love story about a weekend marriage between two people who are clumsy when it comes to love. Fukuyama Kenta, whose hobby is barbecuing, meets Yamaguchi Chihiro, who loves to eat, on a dating app. When he is transferred to Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, he suddenly proposes marriage to her, and the two get married after zero days of dating. Kenta and Chihiro, who live apart in Tokyo and Hamamatsu, slowly deepen their relationship by having barbecues every weekend.

The Japanese version will center around the high school admission process. This is to better reflect the reality of the Japanese education system, where high school admissions are considered more difficult and involve more parental participation. The shooting of the Japanese version of SKY Castle will feature Nao Matsushita, Fumino Kimura and Koyuki.
