Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan is the fifth season in Toei Company's Super Sentai tokusatsu television series. It was broadcast from February 7, 1981, to January 30, 1982, and is the only Super Sentai series to serve as a direct sequel to its previous series and the only all-male Super Sentai team. Its international English title as listed by Toei is simply Sun Vulcan. This was the last Sentai season to be co-produced with Marvel Comics.

When a tragedy befalls their fellow students on graduation day, three pupils of the Hayate Way's Ninja Academy must take on the Jakanja — a clan of evil space warriors. But they can't do it alone. When Reed Richards, Sue and Johnny Storm and pilot Ben Grimm take a premature space flight on a new shuttle, they find themselves massively bombarded with cosmic radiation. Barely managing to re-enter and land safely, the quartet find themselves forever transformed with superpowers. Deciding to use these new powers to help people, they form the Fantastic Four, a superhero team dedicated to the protection of Earth from menaces like the Latverian King Dr. Doom and Galactus, the planet consumer.

The story takes place in a future version of Earth where war has been outlawed and owning weapons is forbidden. A galactic real estate syndicate arrives to carve the planet up into subdivisions. To combat the invasion, a genius inventor, Dr. Kiwi, recruits young Michael Marsh, his girlfriend Patti Pumpkin, and rich classmate Camille Cashmere Jr. as fighters by upgrading the kids' robot helpers (known as Janbu, Patigu and Kamigu respectively) into powerful robot fighters. Michael's robot sidekick Janbu becomes the titular Galatt.

Run by a psychotic warden and his army of hockey-masked guards, it's a festering pit filled with thousands of hardened criminals... plus one very unfortunate Bandit King and his loyal, feathered sidekick!
