Set in Qingdao from the 1990s to the early 2000s, the drama follows the ups and downs of Chen Yiduo, Bi Laifu, and their friends during the decade. It depicts the inspirational story of a group of young people in the 90s who grow up and struggle in their youth and pursue a better life amidst the changes of the times.

Kukuru Misakino, an 18-year-old high school girl working in an aquarium, meets Fuuka Miyazawa, a former idol who lost her place in Tokyo and escaped. Fuuka will spend her days in the aquarium with her own thoughts in mind. However, the crisis of closing is approaching for the aquarium, as the girls explore their dreams and reality, loneliness and friends, bonds and conflicts.

41-year-old Shizuru (Takako Tokiwa) lives with her mother and grandmother in a mountain village in Gifu Prefecture. Shizuru's grandmother is gentle, but is also partially disabled. Shizuru and her mother takes care of her grandmother. Meanwhile, Shizuru's mother ignores her and often restricts what she can do. Consequently, Shizuru has little freedom and endures a monotonous life.

Kenji Narukami, a student of the Narukami Dragon God Style (鳴神龍神流 Narukami Ryūjinryū) for fighting demons, arrives at Akebono to fight the demons, eventually getting his wish when he is transformed to RyuKenDo and faces off against Jamanga's forces together with his friends to restore peace in the community.

On Laem Sing Beach in the Buddhist era 2540 (1997), on a day when the grey sky portended a coming storm, Kamol gave birth to Suricha in the middle of a fishing boat. In the depths below them was the shadow of a great serpent waiting to give its blessing. Kamol did not survive, however, and Suricha was raised by a single father. Fifteen years later, out of nowhere, Suricha loses another important figure in her life to suicide. There was only a tuft of fiery red hair by her father's body.
