Fantasy Island is a supernatural horror film directed and co-written by Jeff Wadlow. The plot of the film shows a group of tourists who visit a beautiful tropical island. The heroes rejoice at an anonymous invitation to an expensive and at the same time free resort for them. This place has a host who introduces himself to guests as Mr. Roarke. The man claims that each of the newcomers has one cherished desire to become a reality within the island. Not everyone believes Roarke's words, but when the guests' dreams come true, it becomes clear that every minute of joy will have to pay. Mr. Roarke decided to keep silent about this tactfully. The director, Jeff Wadlow, who directed the films Kick-Ass 2 and Truth or Dare, cannot create compelling stories. He can turn an ordinary non-dramatic scenario into a poorly designed bunch of events exacerbated by poor dialogue and a lack of charismatic characters. At first, Fantasy Island tries to be funny, but it turns out to be stupid. Some of the heroes will get a grand party, while others will have to save their lives in extreme conditions. As events begin to take a threatening turn, it turns out that the director is completely unable to escalate the situation. Maybe the film's atmosphere could be influenced by the PG-13 rating, which cut off any bloody or violent scenes, but it still does not justify Jeff Wadlow's directorial failure. As a result, Fantasy Island is a failed horror and a failed comedy.
