This film celebrates the joyous and timeless music of Michael Jackson from his first recordings with the Jackson 5 through hit after hit from the seventies, the eighties and the nineties, right up to his most recent cuts, and in so doing tells the story of a true pop genius, the way it really happened. Featuring rare performance and interview footage of Michael and archive material.

He was a one of a kind performer and once in a lifetime entertainer, but few people really know the man he was behind the mask and and the man that the media portrayed him to be. From the age of 5 and up until his last days, the pressure that was put on him was enormous and it had serious repercussions on his physical and mental health. His success was overshadowed by child abuse allegations, and his addiction for prescription drugs and plastic surgery. The show reveals who was the real Michael Jackson, the deeply conflicted man, the man that never really grew up, the man in the mirror.

He was of Andalusian origin but adopted Barcelona as his hometown and Las Ramblas as his stage, where he promenaded in drag. He died in 1983, at only 36 . A painter, famous for his Andalusian virgins (et alia), he was a radical and multifaceted artist during the last years of Franco's dictatorship and during the period of transition towards democracy. An inveterate provocateur, he used transvestitism, surreal performances and extreme fetish acts as forms of artistic resistance, and he was a GLBT activist in the struggle for civil rights. This film features the memories of his family members and friends (Nazario, Jesús Garay and Gérard Courant) and rare historical footage from that period, some never previously released.
