In The Backstage

Filomena lives alone in a rural village in the interior of Portugal and has just found out that she doesn't have much time left to live. Her granddaughter Laura, a young woman in her early twenties, raised by her, shows up out of nowhere at her house. They share memories of childhood and youth, up to the moment when the granddaughter left home to attend University in Lisbon. But something strange happens when the two have a heated argument about the possible return of Laura's mother to their lives. Is Filomena's illness playing tricks on her? Or is something else going on here?

Jimmy Rabbitte, just a thick-ya out of school, gets a brilliant idea: to put a soul band together in Barrytown, his slum home in north Dublin. A female Neuroscience Researcher develops a rare form of melophobia after receiving an unsolicited portable media player loaded with music for testing in her laboratory and experiencing a musical Stendhal Syndrome. Witnessing her colleagues' strangely changing behavior over repeated exposure to the same piece of music, she flees to find shelter from the pervasive sounds of music in her environment and an increasingly frightening world.
