Ion Marin conducts Beethoven With Martha Argerich

The UK's iconic pop group reunite on stage to commemorate over 20 years of their remarkable journey, in this performance special that features exclusive backstage moments.

The Triple Concerto is one of Beethoven's less frequently performed works - probably also because it requires three soloists and makes considerable demands on them. ARTE presents the Concerto for Violin, Violoncello, Piano and Orchestra in C major at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, performed by an excellent trio of soloists. It is accompanied by the Gewandhaus Orchestra under the direction of Herbert Blomstedt.

From her humble beginnings in Arlington, Virginia, Roberta Flack rose to global stardom with her soulful renditions of The First Time Ever I Saw You Face and Killing Me Softly With His Song, both songs earning her Grammy Record Of The Year awards in 1973 and 1974 respectively. This memorable concert performance recorded with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra at the height of her success in 1975 is testament to her singing talent and features many of her greatest hits.

Joined by his long-running five-piece band The Dukes, Earle hit the stage kicking off his Guy Clark tribute with the classic “Dublin Blues,” receiving exuberant cheers at the opening line “Wish I was in Austin.” Earle immediately went into “Texas 1947,” featuring the expert pedal steel work of Ricky Ray Jackson. After sharing a short story about how he met Guy Clark while hitchhiking around Texas, the band performed the ode to the Hill Country honky-tonkin’ queen “Rita Ballou,” featuring Eleanor Whitmore on violin. Following a tale about Clark’s loyalty to Texas BBQ over Tennessee style BBQ, Joe Ely joined Earle on stage to perform “Desperadoes Waiting For a Train” – two Texas music legends trading verses on one of the state’s most influential songs.

Live in Atlantic City, which contains live footage from Knowles' four-night residency show Revel Presents: Beyoncé Live in May 2012 at Revel Atlantic City, was released as part of the two-disc set of the home media release of Life Is But a Dream on November 25, 2013. Decades later, the footage retains its magic, a testament to Cher’s ability to captivate like no one else.
