Death and The Painter

Ellison lives in a time loop, repeating the same day over and over, but she likes it that way! At least, until an unexpected event shatters her reality, leaving her to grapple with the unpredictability of daily life and the meaninglessness of life as a whole.

The film is based on a 2003 novel by the same name, written by Norwegian author Jostein Gaarder. The main character is the young boy Georg who one day finds a long letter from his deceased father. The letter tells, among other things, about the father's youthful love for the mysterious "orange girl" (appelsinpiken), and leaves a mystery for Georg to solve.

Alraune was remade in 1930, with Brigitte Helm repeating her role, and again in 1951, with Hildegarde Knef as the "heroine" and Erich von Stroheim as her misguided mentor.
