Shot on Super 8, Aunty CB is a memory montage of a woman’s stream of consciousness and her honest introspection surrounding gendered family dynamics and childhood trauma. Framed as a confessional monologue, Singlish, Hokkien, and English are employed to capture a linguistic and vernacular portrait of the eponymous character.
This is the story of Roger, a former pork butcher, who worked for 40 years in the beautiful town of Beaune in Burgundy. Since he retired, he has started a new life as a filmmaker: Roger films only on Super 8. Insects, birds, everything he can find in the countryside are his favorite subjects. His short films have won prizes all over the world, some of them have been shown during the Cannes Film Festival. Josette, his wife and number one fan, happens to work for him from time to time.
A teenager stumbles upon a mysterious book from which he reads the written words out loud. As it turns out, playing with black magic spells is not the most sensible idea, because soon a bloodthirsty zombie appears, and the carnage begins. However, the curious young man reads another spell from the book in which he then surrenders his soul to the devil. Now he becomes the target of the zombie hunt, and all its victims, who rise up as the next living dead!
