Devout Buddhists, Norbu and Dolma live with their young son Tashi in a clan in Tibet. Norbu is a highwayman. After Norbu is charged with stealing from the temple, he and his family are banished. Impoverished and marginalized, they can do little when their beloved son becomes ill. Tashi dies of a fever. After a second son is born, Norbu focuses his every action on keeping this child alive, seeking re-admission to the clan for his wife and child, then risking all to save them from isolation and starvation in winter.

As the crucial question arises of the future succession of the Dalai Lama, we take a look back at the tormented history of the "Land of Snows" which lives under Chinese domination and which remains a geopolitical issue of the first order. In 1998 Rinpoche began the construction of the Lotus Ground Retreat Centre in the secluded meadow of Dzogchen Pema Tung. Having completed the stunning Temple of Great Perfection in 2003, he established the Pema Tung annual teachings and empowerments of the secret heart essence of Dzogpa Chenpo for great numbers of fortunate students. High on the Tibetan plateau, in the hidden valley of Rudam, Kham (Eastern Tibet), is the Buddhist monastery of Tibet. It is home o one of the world's most profound and secret spiritual traditions.

In 2013, Mario Colonel photographed the nomads of the Kham mountains, a region in eastern Tibet. Near a monastery, he encountered a little girl on a pilgrimage with her family. The photograph he took of this young nomad quickly became iconic; it evokes a powerful emotion, thanks to the beauty and strength emanating from her gaze. He exhibited it in his gallery in Chamonix and sold it regularly. Magazines bought it for their covers. Eventually, it slipped from his grasp. In 2017, Mario wanted to find this little girl to tell her the story behind the image and share it with her. He decided to return to Kham with the photograph in hand to find Droma, whose first name was all he knew. This film retraces this quest in this mountainous region, this human adventure filled with encounters and original, endearing characters, far removed from idealized images.

In consequence of a violent incident that occurred when is son was a toddler, Luc Bisaillon has lost the right to be in Samuel's life.
