The story is about a group of university students who inevitably gets involved in playing a game of "Horumo" - a combat match where each person manipulates 100 spirits (referred to as "oni") to fight the opponent. Akira Abe, a freshman at Kyoto University student falls for his classmate Kyoko, and soon ends up at a mysterious club called “Kyoto University Azure Dragon” which turns out to be one of the Horumo teams, playing the mysterious (and somewhat absurd) game which started over 1,000 years ago in the Heian period.The heat rises as you see the 2,000 CGI created spirits wage fierce battles against the backdrop of breathtaking beautiful city of Kyoto. The widow hears a bad rumor about the couple next door from the fishmonger's wife, and notices that the electricity meter is still running even though all the cords for the appliances are unplugged. She complains to the power company that the electricity is being stolen from the neighbor's house, and an investigation is finally launched with heavy machinery. The workers find a branched cord in the ceiling. After breaking a wall along the cord and tearing up the floor, they find the cord buried in the earth under the floor. A refrigerator is dug out from under the floor.

She had a pet crucian carp, and the crucian carp always stared intently at their love affair, and it was the same eyes.
