Before Willy is turned back into a boy, he leads the sparrows in a brave but perilous plan to retake their home in the barn from Blacky the cat. Finally, the Sparrow Guardian offers Willy a very special opportunity.

On a stormy night, Trapito the scarecrow saves Salapin the sparrow's life. Salapin is very grateful and makes Trapito believe that he can move from his place. Together they go to the patriarch of birds who ascertains that Trapito has no fantasy. Therefore Salapin will be his fantasy. After that, they meet Largirucho, a clumsy farmer. They become friends and go to the city to sell cheese. From the money they're going to eat in a restaurant. When Largirucho discovers his money is stolen and can't pay, the cook keeps his pig. He must pay within 7 days or the cook will slaughter the pig. Their adventures start when they're finding a job.

Foundling Beaky Buzzard is adopted by a couple of polite, English sparrows, named Monte and Gwendlyn. When Monte tries to teach lame-brained Beaky to catch a chicken, Beaky's ineptitude results in Monte being repeatedly struck with a mallet and caught in a grenade explosion.

Two separate people, a man and a woman, find something very stirring about the sea turtles in their tank at the London Zoo. They meet and form an odd, but sympathetic camaraderie as they plan to steal two of the turtles and free them into the ocean.
