A week before Christmas, Kyon wakes up in a world where the SOS Brigade doesn't exist. Mikuru and Yuki don't recognize him, and Haruhi and Itsuki seem to have vanished.

Alice and Julius are riding along on a turtle until they notice someone has left a pie to cool on their third-storey window sill. They swipe it with the aid of the turtle and his elongated neck, but are pursued by a police officer. They try to paddle away across a pond and up a river, but the officer's determined to catch them. He tricks them into his paddy wagon and they end up in prison, where the hijinks continue with a daring jail break.

In a poet’s room, an armless statue abruptly comes to life. It invites the poet to step through a mirror and to discover another world. Strange places and characters present themselves to him. The poet tears himself away from these twisted fascinations and returns, with some difficulty, to his room.

An 18th century poet travels through time in search of divine wisdom. In a mysterious wasteland, he has a series of enigmatic encounters with symbolic phantoms with whom he muses about the nature of art and his own career. Ultimately, the poet strives to achieve his rebirth as a celestial being.

When he was a child, A Zhen was thought to be a thief by his whole school after a classmate framed him for stealing the principal’s wallet. As a grown-up, A Zhen has become a real thief. Perhaps due to karma, he is struck by lightning which gives him the ability to communicate with non-humans. A Zhen frantically seeks medical help and meets his first love, Cao Mei, once again.

A devotional love poem, a City Symphony. In 2011, Craig Baldwin drew me a map of the city of San Francisco. Over the years, the city became my spiritual home, and Craig became my mentor. In 2015 I rediscovered the map and decided to literalize it. For six months I walked the streets of San Francisco with a Bolex, clicking off frames, simulating the map, enacting every single circle, mark, straight line, etc… Part performance, part love letter, the film is a celebration of the City of my dreams. Occupying gaps in memory and history, Blue Distance serves as a personal and poetic intervention into the filmmaker’s familial immigration story. The film places in communion the mythic powers of cinema and the production of personal and cultural histories. Underpinning these tensions is the immigratory reality of occupying stolen land while trying to secure one’s own actualization.
