The first twin, Viola, falls in love with Orsino, who dotes on OIivia, who falls for Viola but is idolised by Malvolio. Enter Sebastian, who is the spitting image of his twin sister... Christopher Luscombe, Director of the ‘glorious’ (Daily Telegraph) Love’s Labour’s Lost and Much Ado About Nothing (2014 and 2016), returns to the Royal Shakespeare Company to tackle Shakespeare’s greatest comedy, a brilliantly bittersweet account of "the whirligig of time".

When the friendship between two men is put to the test by two women, we can only laugh because the author has managed to adapt this situation in a superb comedy.

Rajesh Joshi directs this Gujarati-language play about living life, cherishing love and taking advantage of second chances.

The originality of the show lies in the gap between the narrative provided by the voice-over (omnipresent) and the visible, concrete actions played on stage by the characters in an almost silent film: their play, sometimes very poetic, transcends narration. As a result, not only is the spectator's emotion intense, but the philosophical reflection on the meaning (s) of the work emerges: since Man sells his thought, his body, his time, in exchange for a salary, since he is constantly in exchange, barter, link, is he a "merchant"? What is he walking towards?

Gennareniello, a crazy inventor, is married to Concettina and lives at home with his son Tommasino, full of tics, his spinster sister and with Matteo, a drawing master who makes plans for his inventions. Driven by his friends, the man courts the young teacher Anna and when his wife notices it, he is forced to run away from home, overwhelmed by the scorn of derision of friends and acquaintances who come to disguise him as a dandy, thus offending his dignity.

Accumulating money through usury and self-denial is Harpagon's passion and ostentatiously displayed purpose in life. He loves money more than his good name, honor, and dignity. His wealth is more important to him than his own children. He plans to marry his daughter Eliza off without a dowry to an aging rich man, his son Cleante to a wealthy widow – and he himself has chosen the beautiful young Mariana as his bride, regardless of the fact that his son is in love with her. And this is only the beginning of the hypocrisy, deceit, and manipulation that develops in his family and among his servants under the influence of Harpagon's miserliness...

Le Petit-Maître corrigé is a three-act romantic comedy by French playwright Marivaux. It was first performed on November 6, 1734, by the Comédie-Française in Paris. In this production Clément Hervieu-Léger makes the eighteenth century resonate with our era, all the more so given that the language is “simpler than in other Marivaux plays, while still as refined, precise and full of humour”. The story is that of a young Parisian whose parents have found a good match for him, a count’s daughter. But when he goes to visit her in her country home, the handsome boy – whose Parisian manners are far removed from the rules of decorum that reign in the provinces – cannot open his heart to his lovely intended. Stung, the latter decides to punish his arrogance while a former lover arrives to prevent the marriage. Between the alliance of master and manservant, and the complicity of mistress and maid, a romantic intrigue ensues full of light-hearted conspiracies and feverish emotions.

Jean-Marie Bigard plays Clérambard, a ruined squire, his family's slavery slave, cat taster, parish priest eater. Converted after an appearance of Saint Francis of Assisi, he becomes as violent in good as he was in evil. A tailor-made role! He no longer touches animals, even if they are insignificant, he finds purity in girls of joy, pleasure in destitution and he will preach this message on the roads, in a caravan, taking his family on its crusade of love .
