I made Zen as a test of sorts to determine the possibilities and limitations of sand-on-glass, an animated technique I had never tried before. One of the challenges was to digitally manipulate under-the-camera footage in a way that preserved the medium's natural look, flow and spontaneity. (Philippe Vaucher)
