He was a general whose name has survived through history due to his incomparable beauty. Due to his concerns that his extreme beauty might damage the morale of his soldiers, he wears a mask into battle.

In 1864, King Ludwig II is crowned the fourth King of Bavaria at the young age of 18, following the sudden death of his father, King Maximilian II. However, the government bureaucrats do not understand his actions as a patron of the arts, valuing beauty and art over politics, and he gradually becomes isolated within the royal court. Ludwig, who is wounded, is visited by a beautiful vision (a giant bird), which is neither dream nor reality.

The franchise centers on "Starlight," a dance and dance troupe beloved the world over. Takarazuka Revue Flower Troupe's 2023 adaptation is based on Mérimée's original work "Carmen". This story, set in Spain, depicts Don José, a military noncommissioned officer, who is fascinated by the free-spirited Carmen and falls in love with her.
