Sun Ruo Wei entire family is killed on the orders of the Yongle Emperor in 1402, though she escapes death after being secretly adopted by Sun Zhong. Sun Ruo Wei becomes the concubine of crown prince Zhu Zhan Ji by chance, and continues to investigate the truth behind her family’s death. However, Sun Ruo Wei decides to abandon her revenge plans after realizing how dangerous it would be to destabilize the court for her own personal goals. Touched by Zhu Zhan Ji’s kindness, Sun Ruo Wei resolves to become a virtuous empress who can support him in times of hardship. Unfortunately, Zhu Zhan Ji passes away after a decade on the throne, and Sun Ruo Wei is honored as Empress Dowager once her 7-year-old Zhu Qi Zhen ascends the throne.

Based on events in 7th and 8th-century Tang dynasty and starring producer Fan Bingbing as the titular character Wu Zetian, The Empress of China is the story of the only woman in Chinese history to rule as an emperor.

Hap Hak Hang is a Hong Kong television series adapted from Louis Cha's novel Ode to Gallantry. The series was first broadcast on TVB in Hong Kong in 1989.

No one ever pays attention to Li Meng Meng, an insecure girl who does badly at school. One day, she strays into the unfamiliar world of the Qi Kingdom to be hailed as their godly envoy. Depending on her modern-day skillset, she becomes the mentor to the young black-bellied king.

When the Emperor mysteriously disappears from battle, his new wife Consort Quan Fei, is accused of murder by his mother, the Empress Dowager, who sees Quan Fei as an ominous woman. However, Quan Fei is protected by the Emperor's younger brother, the new Emperor Daoguang, who has loved Quan Fei since he was young. So when Daoguang announces that Quan Fei is to be his new consort, the Empress Dowager partners with Daoguang's wife, the new Empress Shencheng to eradicate Quan Fei from the royal court.

"The Legend of Love" is a 20 episode drama by Television Broadcasts Limited, released overseas in June 2003. It was re-aired in 2004 on BTV, and in 2005 and 2007 on TVB channels. It is an adaptation of the story of "The Cowherd and Weaver Girl", with slight changes to the storyline.

Witness to a Prosecution is a Hong Kong television series produced by TVB. The original broadcast was on the TVB Jade network with 45-minute episodes airing five days a week from 20 December 1999 to 16 January 2000. The drama stars Bobby Au-yeung as the famous historical forensic medical expert Song Ci. Set during the Southern Song Dynasty of Mid-Imperial China, Witness to a Prosecution tells a fictionalised account of Chee's modest beginnings and the events leading to the creation of his book Collected Cases of Injustice Rectified, the world's earliest documentation of forensic science.
