Journey's End

Set in the years before and during World War I, this epic tale tells the story of a rich Argentine family, one of its two descending branches being half of French heritage, the other being half German. Following the death of the family patriarch, the man's two daughters and their families resettle to France and Germany, respectively. In time the Great War breaks out, putting members of the family on opposing sides.

Based on the Reginald Berkeley stage play, this compelling historical drama offers a depiction of the life story of Florence Nightingale, the young 19th-century Englishwoman famously drawn to a career in nursing. A writer returns home to his estate after service in World War I. He has developed a very bad case of depression due to a war wound concerning his genitalia. He contemplates suicide, but recovers after becoming interested in his caretaker's 12 year-old war orphan niece, who now lives in the manor.

The film focuses on the naval warfare around the Battle of Coronel and Battle of the Falkland Islands during the First World War. It was the last in a successful series of documentary reconstructions of First World War battles by British Instructional Films made between 1921 and 1927.

Three classmates of the naval school met many years later in the Northern Fleet. Their fates were different. One of them became the commander of a cruiser, while the other two had complex personal problems. In these circumstances, everyone behaves differently, sometimes not opening up from the best side.

He would go on to face major battles on the eastern front against the Russians and later against the British in Syria, ultimately becoming the only Ottoman officer not to lose a battle during WW1. However, despite all his success, he would encounter an unexpected challenge upon his return to Istanbul.

Office clerk Eero Koskinen prefers to spend his nights drinking and reminiscing the war with his friends, instead of taking care of his wife and two children. A two-week drinking spree gets him fired, and a new job is not easy to find because of his reputation. He goes to a rehab centre in the countryside for a couple of weeks, but with no permanent result. Meanwhile, his wife has to get a job and is employed by her old sweetheart, now a recently divorced successful businessman.

A young woman, who after being cured of leprosy, is disapproved by her family and society. However, she then makes it her mission to educate the illiterate society about the disease.
