Eugene, an aspiring writer from Brooklyn, is drafted into the US Army during the final months of World War II. The story begins in 1917 with Stan and Ollie being drafted into the U.S. Army to fight in World War I. While in the Army, the pair befriend a man named Eddie Smith, who is killed by the enemy during a battle. After the war is over, Stan and Ollie venture to New York City, where they begin a quest to reunite Eddie's little daughter with her rightful family. The task proves both monumental and problematic as the boys discover just how many people in New York have the last name Smith.

Nothing goes right for Charlie Beary. First his golf game is rained out, then the TV won't start and Junior is too busy to play.

As winter comes, little Bear decides to eat all the snow around him, but soon falls ill.

Several children spend a day in the forest and learn from Smokey Bear the five rules to fire safety.

Humphrey the bear isn't having much luck with his fishing; every time he catches some nice fish, he gets distracted and drops them. So he goes after the catches of the local anglers instead. But ranger Woodlore frowns on this, insisting the bear fish like one.
