He indulges in substance abuse and often imagines pretend scenarios to escape, but these fleeting feelings only make matters worse.

Italian director Giuseppe DeSantis was the creative force behind this Yugoslavian "slice of life" drama. The title translates as The Year-Long Road and, accordingly, the plot concerns a voluntary joint effort to construct a highway. Naturally, this animosity wreaks havoc on the various Romeo-Juliet romances in the region.

This film follows the exploits of a middle aged man as he wanders through Argentina. It is set in the early '80s following the end of Argentina's long military dictatorship and is based on a 1990 novel by Osvaldo Soriano.
