In Edo, where Gintoki and the Yorozuya reside, order is maintained by the Shinsengumi. Toshiro Hijikata, known as the "Demon Vice-Commander," has long led the Shinsengumi with strict discipline. However, after obtaining a cursed demonic sword from a blacksmith, his personality drastically changes due to the curse—turning him into a completely useless good-for-nothing. Justas he’s cornered by a group of rogue samurai in a life-or-death situation, the one who saves this pathetic Hijikata is none other than the Shinsengumi’s tactician, Ito Kamotaro, who has finally returned to Edo after completing a long-awaited mission. Kamotaro comes back bearing the latest weapons and prized swords as souvenirs, receiving a grand welcome from Commander Kondo. His accomplishments are highly praised, and he gradually begins rising in prominence within the Shinsengumi.

The movie is more or less a retelling of the first few episodes of the series that is not much more than a slightly padded director's cut. You do learn some interesting details such as where Yugi's dad is, a look at the flame haze who was in the city before Shana, and even a couple of new powers for the Reiji Maigo. The story is certainly fleshed out quite a bit more and the final 15 minutes of the film comprise a surprisingly powerful conclusion (worth the price of admission on its own), but I would have liked a more original story rather then a highly polished version of one that I've already enjoyed. In the end, spectacular visuals, great new music, and well thought out additions to the core story leave you feeling glad to have seen the film. On the other hand, the fact that anything new that was added obviously doesn't change the events that come later in the series means that established fans will likely leave the experience less than satisfied.

Momo and Okarun set out on their latest adventure, traveling to a hot springs town home rented by Jiji, Momo's childhood friend and former crush, with the goal to solve the mystery surrounding his family. When they arrive, strange locals derail their investigation before it can properly begin, and the group soon learns there's more lurking under the surface of the town than they could possibly have imagined. Director's cut release of the war/mecha anime series "FLAG" features famous scenes from the series edited together into a cohesive, realistic story about war. Camerawoman Shirasu Saeko's photo of residents of a war-torn Asian country struggling to raise the flag of the UN became the symbol for the movement of peace across the land. However, on the eve of a truce, the actual flag captured in the photo is stolen and war once again threatens to plague the land. To return the flag and establish peace in the land, the UN sends a lone mechanical army called the SDC (pronounced as Seedac—Special Development Command).

It all began quite suddenly. Akihito, who appears human but is actually half yomu with the power to quickly heal himself, sees a freshman girl who appears ready to jump from the school rooftop. The girl, Mirai, who has the ability to manipulate blood, which is unique even among members of the spirit world, continues to fight her isolation. Akihito decides at that moment to save Mirai, but disturbing events soon begin to unfold.

Brain is the world's greatest computer, and also the most intelligent being on planet Earth. One day, Brain decides to abandon its terrestrial moorings, and it's up to The Defenders to track it down. Unfortunately, Brain has developed an amazing army of deadly giant robots, including one with a huge "17" emblazoned on its chest-plate, with which it plans to subjugate its creators. A young boy whose family was killed by Brain's followers manages to activate Daitetsujin 17, which thereafter comes to his rescue whenever he is in danger from Brain's minions.

Yuuta Hibiki wakes up in the room of Rikka Takarada and notices two things: he has no memories, and he can hear a mysterious voice calling his name from a nearby room. On further inspection, he finds a robot—which introduces itself as Hyper Agent Gridman—behind the screen of an old computer. Much to Yuuta's surprise, Rikka cannot hear Gridman, nor can she see the ominous monsters looming over a thick fog as it envelopes the town outside. Another giant monster materializes in the city and proceeds to wreak havoc. Amidst the confusion, Yuuta is once again drawn to the old computer and merges with Gridman. Suddenly, he appears in the middle of the battle and is forced to fight the monster. Together with Rikka and fellow classmate Shou Utsumi, Yuuta forms the "Gridman Alliance" to defeat the monsters plaguing the city and find whoever is responsible for their emergence.

High schooler Yomogi comes across Gauma, a strange drifter claiming to be a Kaiju User. Soon after, a Kaiju attacks, and Gauma summons the giant robot Dynazenon to fight it. Yomogi, his classmate Yume, and local NEET Koyomi are caught in the chaos and join as copilots. Together, they form the Gauma Team. But Kaiju Eugenicists, a secret society of teens with special powers, stand in their way.
